Abdul Rahman Almajedi

Abdul Rahman Almajedi is an Iraqi poet, translator, writer and journalist born in Baghdad. He is specialized in Russian literature, on which he has published a number of books, as well as his own poetry collections. He worked in the Arabic Department of Netherlands International Radio, is Deputy Managing Editor of Elaph (online daily newspaper), and is a freelancer in the Guardian film. He is a member of the Federation of Dutch writers and is the recipient of a number of international awards.


Dikra Ridha will read the poems which she translated into English, and other poems which have been translated by Sargo Polis.

This event is part of an exciting programme of events from the Oriental Cultural Forum, which are held on the first Wednesday of every month in the Poetry Café.

On the roof of our house In Baghdad,
We found a graveyard
Inhabited by my father and mother, my brother
and sisters and me.
