An evening of Jazz Inspired Poetry with Dreams of Baghdad in London’s Mist

يسضيف الشاعرالعراقي غريب اسكندر والشاعر البريطاني جون كلارك في امسية شعرية باللغتين العربية والانجليزية، وذلك في يوم الاربعاء 7-7-2010 الساعة 7.30 في مقهى الشعر، قلب العاصمة لندن على العنوان التالي : Poetry Café (Poetry Society), 22 Betterton Street, London WC2H 9BX  

Ghareeb Iskander is an Iraqi poet living in London. His latest collection of poems Mahafat Alwahm (A Chariot of Illusion) 2009 Beirut, he seeks his dreams of Baghdad in London's mist, as well as other poetic themes, Gareep such as the sea, exile, strangeness, love and sadness.  Ghareeb has published a number of poetry collections such as Sawad Basiq (High Darkness), 2001Beirut, (in Arabic);Semiotic Trends in the Critique of Arabic Poetry in 2002, Cairo, and in Baghdad 2009 (in Arabic). His latest collection is ‘AChariot of Illusion’, translated into English, 2009 London.

                                                   

John Clarke is a poet, performer and a recording artist born 1948. He performs regularly on the London poetry and John music scene. His first full collection 'Ghost On The Road' appeared in 2006, following the success of his pamphlet of poems ‘Traveling Without Arriving' 2001, both published by Tall-lighthouse. John has recorded various CDs, the latest of which is the Jazz Septet-Jazz Circus-‘What Jazz Can Do (For Your Life)’ 2009,which includes the stellar British Jazz/Blues guitarist Billy Jenkins. John will perform some of his latest poems.
